Scholarships: Mental Health and Health Sciences Focus
The significant challenges that we are now facing around youth mental health in Canada require both short and long-term strategies. We are supporting organizations that are providing mental health care to youth today, and we must also address the long-term need to educate, train, and empower more mental health professionals who can provide care to our youth in the future.
To accomplish this long-term goal, Kindred Foundation is partnering with organizations providing scholarships to students as part of our youth mental health strategy. We are funding scholarships in the area of mental health and/or health sciences at colleges or universities across Canada. These scholarships are a part of our initiative to help youth dealing with mental health and illness challenges in Canada from two youth communities - Black youth and/or 2SLGBTQ+ youth communities.
The Black Education Fund
Kindred Foundation is honoured to support 14 'roster' (multi-year) scholarships with The Black Education Fund. These scholarships support Black students studying in the area(s) of mental health, health sciences or sciences programs. Starting in 2023, one scholarship also supports a student who identifies within the 2SLGBTQ+ community. Each student receives $1,000 per year for the duration of their program (up to 4 years).
